COMPONENTS

New day of strike in an airline with a large presence at Malaga airport and that may affect thousands of passengers from the next public holiday on November 1. In this case, it is the Vueling cabin crew who have called strike days on weekends, Mondays and holidays until January 31 of next year.

Its objective is to demand a salary update of 13.4% for this year, as confirmed by the Stavla union (Airline Flight Auxiliary Crew Union). For now, the flights affected by the stoppages are not known, because it will depend on the minimum services that are set, but Malaga is one of the Spanish airports with a high number of scheduled flights with Vueling. Only for next November 1, the first day of the strike, in Malaga there are more than 40 scheduled flights to and from the capital of the Costa del Sol. It must be remembered that this Vueling strike joins that of Ryanair, which is held from Thursday to Sunday, although with less and less follow-up.

The Spanish low-cost airline Vueling is the second in terms of passengers in Malaga and connects the Costa del Sol with 24 destinations, thirteen of which are international.

company stance

From the airline they "regret" the decision of their workers and defend that "this is not the time" to divide but to "join efforts to build the future of the airline." And they assure that the requests of the convening union at the negotiating table of the IV collective agreement reach wage increases of 33% until 2025, an "unfeasible" rise for the company that could lead to dismissals.

In addition, remember that they have already agreed to increase both the fixed and variable concepts of the TCP group by 6.5% retroactive to January 1, 2021, which would mean the payment of the corresponding arrears since then.

Vueling, whose main base is at the Barcelona airport, reached an agreement with the CC OO union in August to raise salaries by 6.5%, corresponding to the 2021 CPI, but Stavla distanced itself and did not sign. Now, this union is preparing mobilizations to request a higher salary increase in the negotiation of the agreement and CC OO has distanced itself from this strike.
