The Moroccan businessman Judas Azuelos (April 25, 1935; Fes, Morocco) died last morning at the age of 86 in his city of residence, Marrakech. Azuelos spent more than a decade dedicated to recovering the shine of the Los Monteros hotel, one of the most emblematic of the Costa del Sol, after taking over the establishment when it was about to be liquidated. "I couldn't allow it to end like this after so many years," explains Fernando Al-Farkh, hotel manager, who was with the businessman throughout the project, after the acquisition it reopened in 2010.

After a long business career that took him from the export of Spanish industrial equipment to countries in the Middle East to the creation of leading companies in the United States, he returned to the Costa del Sol, a place to which he felt a special affection as a regular visitor. .

With extensive professional experience, he was a regular in Marbella in its golden age, and he could not allow a symbol of the city that he had been a regular user of and for whom he had so much affection had that ending. He acquired Los Monteros in 2010, shortly before he had taken over the reins of the Hotel Guadalmina, which was also going through difficult times. ?He put all his assets and all his effort into getting out of this very complicated situation and always said that it was 'the best project at the end of my life,'? explains Al-Farkh.

"He achieved what seemed impossible," he acknowledges and highlights the great generosity, courage and intelligence of whoever was his boss, although for him it was always "something more, even as a father."

A work that was based on two pillars. On the one hand, the recognition of the workers, "who managed to find accommodation, with continuity or, at least, with a dignified exit." On the other, the recovery of the facilities, which had been sold or abandoned. Thanks to that, he managed to recover the La Cabane beach club, a building that had been sold to third parties and the tennis club, reforming it and making it a benchmark again. «A great businessman with a great heart. And that is very difficult to find », concludes the manager.

All the employees of the Hotel Los Monteros will meet at the main door tomorrow, July 6, at 4:00 p.m. as a token of appreciation and gratitude for your commitment and generosity. Additionally, starting today, a condolence book will be available at the hotel reception for anyone who wants to dedicate a few words to it.

The burial will take place in Paris in the next few days.
