The Pastoral de las Protegidas de Nerja will perform in Mijas next Saturday, the 19th, in the Zambombas al Fresquito 2023 contest, organized by the Friends of Zambombeo in collaboration with the Mijas Town Hall.
For this special occasion, the Pastoral will debut a turquoise-toned T-shirt, in which, in addition to the logo, the names of the most outstanding authors of pastorals in the history of Nerja will appear, as well as some of their verses, such as "La Letter? and ?La Cueva?, among others. It will also display the ADN NERJA logo, the name of the municipality's carol recovery project and the show that the pastoral will present at the Villa de Nerja Cultural Center on November 24. The pastoral recovered more than fifty couplets and typical Christmas carols from Nerja, something never achieved before, in addition to bringing together all the authors in the same repertoire. The group has not stopped rehearsing since the end of the season and has already participated in various events in the municipality such as the last festival of the Virgen del Carmen, with Canal Sur Televisión live.
Zambombas al Fresquito is a pastoral meeting that had its first appointment in the summer of 2019 like the last two editions, in the Barrio Santana, in the Plaza de los Siete Caños in Mijas Pueblo. The show will begin at 9:00 p.m.
Among the novelties of this year, the presence of the Pastoral de las Protegidas de Nerja stands out, which had never before acted in the area. The shepherds of Benaque also repeat, who last year could not attend. In addition, at 8:00 p.m., a parade will begin that will start from the Plaza de la Paz and will head towards the Barrio Santana passing by the Casa Museo, where the pastoralists will interpret some Christmas carols.
In total, the Raíces de Colmenarejo, Las Protegidas de Nerja, Río Granaílla, Los Amarillos, Las Lagunas, Pastores del Puerto and Salvador Rueda, from Benaque, participated.
