The dream of autonomous flight is still very much alive in the human mind. After developing civil and military aviation for more than a century, there are still visionaries working to design devices that allow the body to move autonomously through the air safely, like true birds. This is the case of the British company Gravity, promoted in 2015 by Richard Browning, an English inventor, engineer, aviator and soldier.
After several years of development in his country, this pioneering technology, based on a suit with gas microturbines of up to a thousand horsepower, with a range of ten minutes, could land in Vélez-Málaga. The cost of the equipment was around 250,000 dollars in 2019. The capital of the Axarquia has chosen to become the preferred training space for these gadgets, which have already been successfully tested by more than a thousand people, being useful in emergency and rescue situations.
The Malaga aeronautics company Aerodynamics Academy, with offices in the capital and the Axarquia Technology Park, in El Trapiche, has signed a collaboration agreement with Gravity to test these devices around the Leoni Benabú aerodrome. The initiative plans to create an R&D training and development center in Europe for this innovative and pioneering "human aviation" technology that we know, above all, through science fiction blockbusters.
However, Browning has spent seven years embarking on bringing to life his particular vision of the dream of being able to fly. Gravity Industries is defined as the pioneering company in engineering and innovation of "human aviation" that designs and manufactures flight suits (Jetsuits) that allow the human being to "fly".
The mayor of Velez, Antonio Moreno Ferrer (PSOE), held a meeting on Monday with Juan Manuel Martín, manager of the international pilot school Aerodynamics, and with representatives of Gravity Industries to find out the details and support the collaboration agreement established from the institution between both entities.
"Economic impact"
The councilor highlighted the importance of prestigious and internationally recognized companies settling in Vélez-Málaga "given the generation of wealth and employment that this entails for the municipality and the region, in an unbeatable enclave for this, such as the Techno-Food Park". The mayor added in a statement that "this European Gravity training center" would put Vélez-Málaga in the focus of millions of interested parties from all over the world, assuming a significant economic impact for the city and Axarquia.
Aerodynamics Academy offers in Vélez-Málaga a varied training in aeronautics to students from all over the world and its courses include commercial and private flight pilot, drone piloting, flight attendant and aircraft engine maintenance. They also have a real simulator of a state-of-the-art Airbus A320 and unique in Spain for their practices.
The company, which opened its facilities just two years ago, in June 2020, a few months after the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, is recognized as one of the largest aeronautical training centers in Europe, which enables its students access to the European labor market with a solid education. The aeronautical campus encompasses, in its 62,000 square meters, spacious and modern facilities that include a student residence, a school and state-of-the-art training facilities.
Aerodynamics is certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and by up to four authorities from different countries, such as the Spanish Aviation Safety Agency (AESA) of Spain, Austro Control of Austria, the Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) of Switzerland and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of England, which allows its recognition in practically all European countries.
Aerodynamics company team, at its facilities in the Veleño park. / SUR First approval for the issuance of United Kingdom flight licenses The Aerodynamics Academy aeronautical training center, with headquarters at the Vélez-Málaga aerodrome and in the capital of Malaga, will give training courses for commercial pilots from the United Kingdom under the Malaga sun , after the agreement signed with the British Flight Training Academy Falcon Flight Training Academy, belonging to the Falcon Group and the approval of the English civil aviation authority, the CAA. The main reason for this agreement is that, after Brexit, it became necessary for future pilots from the United Kingdom to have the qualifications of EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) and CAA (English Civil Aviation Authority) and Aerodynamics has the facilities and the necessary means so that future pilots can obtain their flight licenses to operate in Europe and England from Malaga for the first time after Brexit. Juan Manuel, CEO of Aerodynamics Academy, explained that ?Falcon and Aerodynamics are two companies that share the same values and offer quality services. Our facilities, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, allow us to offer courses from initial flight training to airline pilots, as well as training for cabin crew, flight mechanics or drone pilots. Having both aircraft and simulators and its own airline company. Our goal is to attract the best candidates and help them develop their true potential." Aerodynamics has among its facilities a series of high-tech and innovative flight simulators, such as an Airbus A320 simulator, cabin crew training simulators, along with a fleet of single and twin-engine aircraft that operates from its facilities in Malaga. In addition, the company has the approvals of pilot school (ATO), private passenger transport on charter flights (AOC), aeronautical maintenance center (CAMO and Part-145) as well as mechanic school (Part-147), and offers specific training both for the type of aircraft and for the cabin crew, "being the most complete aeronautical training center in Spain", García considered. For his part, Anoop Singh Bamrah FRAeS, director of the Falcon Group, commented that ?airlines are facing an increasingly qualified demand. That is why this partnership between the two companies will fill the existing gap in the market, offering students EASA and CAA qualifications from the UK and everything under the Spanish sun.? Falcon Group based at London's Biggin Hill Airport has a long history in the aviation world working with airlines, governments, MROs, national authorities and educational institutions. Its flight school is one of the most important in the United Kingdom. With this alliance both schools will offer students the UK EASA and CAA qualifications.
