After two breaks due to the pandemic, Torrox will live its 2022 fair from September 28 to October 2 in all its splendor and with a lineup of artists of recognized prestige on the national scene. The mayor, Óscar Medina (PP), and the councilor responsible for Festivals and Popular Traditions, Salvador Escudero (PP), presented the poster and the performances at a ceremony held in Plaza de la Hoya.
Escudero, who acted as presenter of the event, explained that "we have been negotiating since last year to have the best signings for this fair." Thus, the positive songs of Conexión Corridor; the fun rock of Mojinos Escozíos; the flamenco of La Húngara; Los Echoes del Rocío, on their farewell tour; and the comedian from Malaga Tomás García will be the star performances of this Torrox fair.
Another important moment was discovering the poster for this fair, the work of Moisés Jiménez, a 22-year-old resident of Antequera from Torrox and an advisor to digital companies, who was the winner of the contest held last August and which has had a large stake. Jiménez has stated that "when making the poster, I thought of the umbrellas in the Plaza de la Constitución, which are an emblem for Torrox, and they had to be part of it".
It has also been revealed that the Vive La Música Cultural Association will be this year's town crier, after the screening of a video that reviews its history, which was born in 1984 with the former Ntra. Mrs. De las Nieves Municipal Music Band , giving way in 2004 to the current formation. For Medina, "it has been a very successful choice because it is one of the most Torroxean things together with the Choirs and Dances". The director, Ana Zapata, thanked this distinction and declared with emotion that "there are many of us who would not understand life without this association, just as this fair would not be understood without the band's music because we have been linked to it since 1984".
new confirmations
The event also screened a video with images of the Torrox fair over the years and another with all the performances that, during these five days of the fair, will delight those who come to the Torrox festivities. Escudero has stressed that the poster is not complete and that "new confirmations are expected in the coming days."
?We are going to promote lighting; to the youth; our house for the elderly, one of the greatest prides we have; the horsemen because a fair is not understood without them, without forgetting the Taytantos Zone, which moves to the Polín Gardens", explained Medina, who ended the act by inviting everyone to "enjoy a fair as we deserve".
